So my father and his girlfriend Kelly came to visit me in Denmark! I will do a separate post about their time in Aarhus. After a few days in Aarhus we went on holiday in Barcelona, Spain. Here are some photos :)
Dad and I.
Kelly and Bailey in action! (Check out all of the vespas).
La Pedrera:
Between 1906-1912 Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to build an apartment house. The highly innovative construction marked a departure from traditional architectural design of the day. The building is known as La Pedrera (the stone quarry) in allusion to the resemblance of its facade to an open quarry.
The rooftop of La Pedrera which has three types of structures: stairwells, ventilation towers and chimneys.
Gaudi made the chimneys circular and swirly.. resembling swirling smoke.
The attic, which is made up of 270 arches that support the roof-terrace!
Souunds good.
Inside one of the apartments.
The foyer of La Pedrera.
Entrance.
Beautiful little garden we found.
King of the world!
Museu Picasso:
My father and I spent an afternoon exploring the Museo Picasso. This museum focused on the background for the early years of learning of Pablo Picasso. The collection has his earliest works, sketches, work from his blue period, ceramic work, and his later pieces. It was amazing to see the masterpieces of Picasso.
Central Barcelona:
Barcelona Cathedral:
This church is one of the most important examples of Catalan Gothic architecture. Work on the church started on in 1298 and was complete in 1450.
Kelly and I had on dresses and our bra straps were showing.. We were denied entrance because of this. Luckily, we had just gone shopping and threw on a shirt. This picture is too close to capture this full ridiculousness of our outfits, but let me tell you.. we looked awesome :)
